Chicago Bears rookie tackle Gabe Carimi underwent a surgical procedure on his knee Friday.

Bears head coach Lovie Smith described the arthroscopic debridement as a minor surgery, and said he didn't know much more time Carimi will miss. Carimi has not played since Week 2, but is not expected to go on injured reserve.

"We'll know more once we get some more information," Smith said. "Right now I just know he's not going to play this week and he may be out a while."

Carimi, a first-round pick in the 2011 draft, practiced last Wednesday but missed the rest of the week with soreness.
