Waco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Cory Jefferson scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Baylor Bears to a 104-59 victory over the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys.

Rico Gathers had 17 points and nine rebounds and Brady Heslip added 17 points for Baylor (7-1), which will face Kentucky Friday.

"I thought we made the extra pass, shared the ball, and in a game like this, selfish teams try to get their own points," said Baylor coach Scott Drew. "We didn't have that. Our execution was good and we rebounded the ball very well."

Cameron Barnes scored 15 points and John Barnes added 12 points for the Cowboys (0-4), who have not beaten Baylor since 1936-37 season.

"We're just very happy that we had an opportunity (to) let our kids see this type of atmosphere and let our kids compete, but naturally we don't have the quickness, the concentration level, nor the strength to play at this level of basketball," said Hardin-Simmons coach Craig Carse.

The Cowboys led four times and tied the game three times until Baylor began a 20-4 run with 15:23 left in the first half. Ish Wainright started the run with a layup and his foul on John Barnes with 10:19 left in the half ended the run.

The Bears did not let up following the run and Hardin-Simmons would not come within double digits for the rest of the game.

At the half, the Bears led 52-27.

Baylor continued to pour it on and after a Gathers layup with 13:02 remaining the Cowboys would not come within 30 points as the Bears cruised to victory.
