Officials at the Atlanta Athletic Club are still baffled by a strange mower mishap that damaged the edges of two greens before the PGA Championship.

Head groundskeeper Ken Mangum says he and his team "felt like our hearts had been ripped out" after the 14th and 17th greens were damaged Wednesday evening.

Mangum says there were no mechanical failures on the mowers. The only thing he's been able to determine is a sudden rise in the dew point caused the brushes on the movers to stick in the grass.

The PGA of America says the affected areas are being treated as ground under repair, allowing golfers to move their ball if it lands there or they have to putt through it. Mangum says the greens will be trimmed with hand mowers the rest of the week.
