The visitors found themselves in front by halftime as Adam Maher's 27th-minute strike gave Alkmaar the lead.

Nwofor Uche leveled the score for Venlo in the 52nd minute, but three answered goals in the span of 11 minutes helped Alkmaar cruise to a comfortable win.

Donny Gorter converted a penalty in the 55th minute before Jozy Altidore and Etienne Reijnen extended the margin with goals in the 62nd and 66th minutes, respectively.

AZ Alkmaar has won two straight to improve to 24 points, while Venlo, sitting second from bottom, remains on 15 points by dropping its third straight league match.
