Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Avalanche announced Wednesday that injured forward Alex Tanguay will accompany the team on their upcoming three-game road trip, the latest step in the veteran's comeback from knee and hip injuries.

Tanguay has been sidelined since Nov. 2, when he injured his knee in a game against Montreal, but has been practicing the past two weeks and could be back in the lineup when Colorado visits Florida on Friday.

As a sign that the 34-year-old sniper is close to a return, the Avalanche reassigned forward Brad Malone to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Lake Erie.

Prior to his injuries, Tanguay had tallied three goals and six assists over Colorado's first 13 games of the season, during which the Avs went 12-1-0.
