Astros snatch P Fick off waivers

Houston, TX – The Houston Astros claimed pitcher Chuckie Fick off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Fick will report to the major league club Friday night.

Fick, 26, appeared in two games for the Cardinals this season and allowed a run in 1 2/3 innings. In 42 relief appearances for Triple-A Memphis, he was 1-1 with a 4.68 earned run average.

The Cardinals designated Fick for assignment on Wednesday.

Houston will make a corresponding move when Fick reports to the club.
