The Houston Astros placed pitcher Edgar Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list and activated pitcher Josh Fields from the 15-day disabled list.

The 30-year old Gonzalez last played on May 25 against the Athletics before going down with a right shoulder strain.

Gonzalez began the season with the Astros but was designated for assignment on April 5. Two days later, he was claimed on waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays. He played in three games before being designated for assignment on May 9 and returned to the Astros on May 12.

In eight appearances with Toronto and Houston, Gonzalez is 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA.

Fields, 27, is scoreless in two appearances this season, but hasn't played since April 3. Selected by the Boston Red Sox with the first pick in the 2012 Rule 5 Draft, Fields was placed on the DL with a right forearm strain on April 4.
