The Houston Astros have signed infielder Diory Hernandez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Hernandez spent parts of the past three seasons with the Atlanta Braves, and last year hit .212 with a homer and four runs batted in over 22 games. He can play three infield positions and has seen time in the outfield.

The versatile 27-year-old Dominican native has appeared in 75 games during his big league career. He has a career .272 minor league average in 745 games.
