A's claim C Gimenez off waivers from Tampa Bay

Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics have claimed catcher Chris Gimenez off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Gimenez batted .224 with three home runs and 22 RBI in 95 games with Triple-A Durham in 2013. He earned a September call-up with the Rays and batted .333 in four games.

The 30-year-old has hit .199 with six home runs and 30 RBI in 143 MLB games with Cleveland, Seattle and Tampa Bay.
