IOC President Thomas Bach says the balmy temperatures in Sochi pose no "major risk" to the Olympics, with enough snow still in place for the competitions in the mountain venues.

With temperatures reaching 18 C (64 F) in coastal Sochi and 14 C (57 F) in the mountains, Bach tells The Associated Press "the situation so far is under control" and there is no need — for now — to bring in stored snow.

He says "there is still enough snow available at this time we don't see a major risk."

Bach also says an Olympic track worker suffered leg injuries and "maybe a concussion" in a bobsled accident in the braking area near the finish line.

Bach also praises the security and overall atmosphere in Sochi and hails the return of India the Olympic fold.
