Antwan Scott scored 21 points, including a late 3-pointer, as Grambling State beat Mississippi Valley State 72-70 Monday night.

Grambling State (4-21, 3-13 Southwest Athletic Conference) struggled offensively, shooting just 41.5 percent from the field, 21.4 percent from deep and 61 percent from the free throw line, but got to the charity stripe 45 times — converting 25. The Delta Devils finished 13 of 20 from the line.

The Tigers trailed 41-34 at the break, as MVSU (9-21, 5-12) made 15 of 26 field goals (57.7 percent), including 6 of 13 from deep, in the first half.

Grambling State trailed 63-56 with 8:40 remaining, but used a 10-2 run, capped by Scott's 3 with 32 seconds left, to take its first lead, 68-65, since midway through the first half.

GSU made 4 of 6 free throws down the stretch, and 17 of 27 in the second half, to seal it.
