Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout was voted the American League Rookie of the Month for August.

For the fourth straight month, Trout grabbed the freshman honors as he batted .284 with seven homers, two doubles, a triple, 19 RBI and 26 runs scored along with 11 stolen bases in 28 games.

On the season, the 21-year-old New Jersey native is batting .332 with 25 homers and 74 RBI along with 108 runs scored and 43 stolen bases in 112 games. He leads the American League in batting average and leads the majors in runs and steals.

Baltimore pitcher Miguel Gonzalez, Tampa Bay pitcher Matt Moore, Kansas City pitcher Kelvin Herrera, Minnesota pitcher Casey Fien, Oakland third baseman Josh Donaldson and Oakland first baseman Chris Carter were also considered for the award.
