Ajax sustained a major blow on Friday as it was announced that striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson will be out for the next four months after dislocating his shoulder.

Sigthorsson will undergo surgery to repair the problem according to the club, meaning that he will spend more time on the sidelines after missing much of last season due to a fractured ankle.

The 22-year-old joined Ajax from AZ Alkmaar in 2011, but he has made just 15 Eredivisie appearances for the team because of his injury issues, although he has shown glimpses of his potential by scoring eight goals.
