Western Cape, South Africa (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaco Ahlers parred the third playoff hole on Sunday to defeat Jaco Van Zyl and win the Investec Cup.

Both Ahlers and Van Zyl carded 6-under 66s in the final round at Lost City Golf Course and the duo finished regulation play tied at 9-under-par 279. The win is Ahlers' third on the Sunshine Tour, with his last one coming at the Lion of Africa Cape Town Open last year.

Ahlers and Van Zyl played the par-5 18th three times in a row as they tried to find a winner. They both made birdie the first time around and headed back to the tee for a second playoff hole.

After trading pars at the second playoff hole, Ahlers and Van Zyl both found the water with their tee shots on the following hole.

Ahlers then watched as Van Zyl hit his approach into the water again. Ahlers laid up and then knocked his approach to six feet. While Van Zyl managed to have a 5-footer for bogey, Ahlers finished things up by making his par putt for the victory.

It was a strong final round for Ahlers as he made an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole to go along with six birdies and two bogeys. Van Zyl had just as much success with six gains in his bogey-free round.

Justin Harding (65) and George Coetzee (71), who won last week's Tshwane Open on the European Tour, ended tied for third at 8-under 280.

Charl Schwartzel headlined a group of three players tied for fifth at 7-under 281. Schwartzel fired a 3-under 69 and was joined in fifth by Chris Swanepoel (68) and Jbe Kruger (70).
