Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Atletico Madrid forward Adrian Lopez has signed a new long-term contract with the club that runs until 2018.
The 25-year-old joined Atletico in 2011 after he was a part of Spain's Under-21 European Championship side.
And Adrian made a huge impact on Atletico in his first season, netting 19 goals in all competitions.
However, he has struggled to replicate that form since his first campaign with just two goals in 18 appearances over the past 18 months.
"We are happy to keep such a decisive player at his best stage," Atletico manager Diego Simeone said. "We hope this gives him more security, more confidence and more calm. He knows the confidence his teammates and I have in him. We need him here."
