Pac-12 Conference men's basketball championship history
With the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament approaching, teams in the Pac-12 Conference will battle it out for an automatic bid to the national tournament. Here's a look at the history of the collegiate athletic conference that operates in the Western United States.
The 2020 Pac-12 Conference men’s basketball tournament began March 11 and was set to run through March 14 in Nevada but was canceled over the coronavirus.
Each of the conference’s 12 teams made the tournament, though the tournament was canceled.

“The Pac-12 Conference has made the decision to cancel the remainder of the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament and all Pac-12 sport competitions and Pac-12 Championship events, effective immediately, until further notice,” the conference said in a statement.
“This decision has been made in consultation with our member universities in an effort to limit the spread of the virus and in the interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes, campus personnel, working and event personnel, and all those who attend Pac-12 events.”
The NCAA later canceled the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments over the coronavirus pandemic that has swept the globe and put all of American sports on lockdown.

“Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to [the] spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities,” the NCAA said.
