Two AC Milan soccer fans have been arrested for their involvement in clashes with rival supporters following the team's 2-1 loss at Hellas Verona.

Police described the fans as being in their 20s, and say that video footage taken inside the stadium was used to identify them.

One fan was seen ripping a seat out from the stands to throw it over a barrier at opposing supporters and the other was seen using his belt as a whip.

Verona was fined $53,000 by the Italian league judge on Tuesday for the clashes, and for flares thrown onto the field by its supporters.

Milan was fined $7,000.

The game was Verona's first in the top Italian division in 11 years.
