Life's been good to him so far, but Eagles guitarist and solo artist Joe Walsh is still ready to change things up. His 4-acre equestrian property in Encinitas, Calif., recently popped up on the market with an asking price of $2,875,000.

Who would have thought you'd find a rock 'n' roll legend's equestrian estate in this Orange County beach community? You might think he'd be more inclined toward the Rocky Mountain Way. But this property, in the Olivenhein neighborhood, turns out to be the ideal spot for a horse ranch — the land is flat and it's adjacent to miles of riding trails. It's definitely not in the city.

The property also boasts an arena, pastures, corrals, a tack room, stalls for six horses, and even a horse shower.

The main house was originally built in 1997, and has undergone some renovations. It now measures 5,635 square feet and has six bedrooms and 5.5 baths.

Walsh and his fifth wife, Marjorie Bach (sister of Barbara Bach, who is married to Ringo Starr), bought the sprawling property in 2007 for $3,079,500. The world-renowned guitarist has a number of other properties, including some in the area. But this particular horse ranch is where Walsh entertained diverse musical artists from members of the Eagles to Burt Bacharach, according to listing agent Brett Dickinson of Pacific Sotheby's International Realty.

"It was the ideal place for him to get away, and he worked on a lot of his own music there," Dickinson says.

The main residence is the perfect mix of rustic and chic — apparent in the gleaming hardwood floors, the three fireplaces, and the cathedral ceilings with wooden beams. There's also an open kitchen with granite countertops, an island, and an adjacent breakfast area. The bonus? A poolside guest house complete with its own kitchen.

In addition to the equestrian amenities, the property includes a yoga pavilion, a sport court, and a swimming pool designed for doing laps.

Walsh, 71, has had a rollicking career spanning more than 40 years, performing with rock bands such as the James Gang and Ringo Starr & his All-Starr Band. He joined the Eagles in 1975, and his first album with them was the epic Hotel California. Later this month, Walsh will reunite with the Eagles for a world tour that starts in New Zealand, goes on to Australia, through Europe, and ends in Dublin in July.
