WH: President Receiving Updates on Afghan Offensive, will speak with Top Commander on Sunday

FROM WHITE HOUSE SPOKESMAN TOMMY VIETOR: The President has received multiple updates through the White House Situation Room on the operation in Marja, and will speak to his National Security Advisor General Jim Jones about it later today.

General Jones recently completed a 5-day trip to Afghanistan and Pakistan. While in Afghanistan, General Jones met with Senior Afghan, U.S., and ISAF leadership and traveled to Kabul, Kandahar, Jalalabad, and Panjshir.

Additionally, Secretary Gates has asked that General McChrystal update the President on the operation. This will happen Sunday morning.
