Columnist A.B. Stoddard told viewers Tuesday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that by disassociating himself from the Republican Party, Donald Trump just becomes a "man on his own."

Stoddard points out that by going into "nothing to lose mode," Trump leaves himself at a big disadvantage all across the country.

"This is a man with a pitiful presence on the ground in terms of what 2016 national presidential political campaign mechanics are supposed to look like," Stoddard said.

Stoddard explains that candidates absolutely need their political party backing especially at lower levels, such as "precinct by precinct, county by county with enthusiasm resources."

“If he disconnects from the party, it's between one and I don't know how many percentages but it absolutely makes a difference."
