Sen. Brown promoted to colonel in Army National Guard
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Sen. Scott Brown just got a promotion, being elevated to the rank of colonel Wednesday by the Army National Guard.
The Massachusetts Republican senator's office announced the promotion late Wednesday afternoon. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., a war veteran, presided over the ceremony.
"As a soldier, I'm privileged to serve alongside the very best men and women our nation has to offer," Brown said in a statement. "Their devotion, service and sacrifice on behalf of our country is unmatched."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}He said he'll continue serving in his present role as assistant to the chief counsel in the National Guard Bureau.
Brown joined the Guard in 1979 as an infantryman.
