Sen. Kelly Ayotte believes the Secret Service needs an independent review to carry on successfully.
“There is clearly a leadership problem. It goes beyond the head of the agency,” the Republican from New Hampshire said on "Fox News Sunday," referring to the recent lapses in security surrounding President Obama and the resignation of agency chief Julia Pierson.
Ayotte, who serves on both the Senate Armed Services and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committees, said the new head of the Secret Service needs to be someone with a “fresh view” who is not “engrained in the culture existing now.”
She also hoped the president would enact an independent review of the agency, like he did for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
