Border Patrol agents in California this week caught 14 illegal immigrants as they tried to sneak across the U.S. border in a truck that was disguised as an Imperial Irrigation District service vehicle.

An El Centro Sector Border Patrol agent spotted the truck heading north on Highway 111 early Monday morning, but noticed that the truck's markings were not entirely consistent with those normally found on IID vehicles. The Imperial Irrigation District is an area of California just a few miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, due north of Mexicali.

The agent pulled the truck over and discovered it was a Ford F-150 that was disguised as an IID truck. The driver was also not an IID employee. The agent inspected the vehicle with a Border Patrol detector dog and found the illegal aliens in the passenger cabin and beneath a tarp in the bed of the truck.

The 23-year old male driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested and the suspected illegal aliens were taken back to Calexico Station. Agents also confiscated the truck.

Agents said the vehicle was "cloned" to look like a truck typically found in the area.
