Highlights from ongoing presidential news conference

If you're not able to watch the news conference on Fox, here are some highlights from the ongoing event:

On Iran:  "The United States and the international community have been appalled and outraged by the threats, beatings, and imprisonments of the last few days. I strongly condemn these unjust actions, and I join with the American people in mourning each and every innocent life that is lost.

President Obama took a question from an Iranian citizen, via the Huffington Post reporter at the news conference.  The question:  "Under which conditions would you accept the election of Ahmadinejad? And if you do accept it without any significant changes in the conditions there, isn't that a betrayal of -- of what the demonstrators there are working to achieve?"

On Fed Chair Ben Bernanke's performance: "He has done a fine job under very difficult circumstances ... I would say all financial regulators didn't do everything that needed to be done to keep the crisis from happening."

On Smoking:  The President was asked if he still smokes and whether he does it alone or in the company of others.  Mr. Obama called himself a "former smoker", but notes he has fallen off the wagon every now and then.  He doesn't smoke in front of his kids or his familiy.  He considers himself "95%" cured.
