Tucker Carlson told viewers on Wednesday's “Special Report with Bret Baier” that former Republican Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who recently announced his presidential run, is "really running as an economic populist and he's doing it in a very compelling way."

“I’m not saying he’s going to win the nomination,” the Fox & Friends weekend host said. “But I'm saying he is giving voice to sentiments which are widespread among Republican voters in the base, that the middle class is in deep trouble and wage stagnation is an actual issue.”

Carlson argued that these issues don’t affect anyone in D.C. but do have an impact on the rest of the country. “Rural America is collapsing. These are real things and it shouldn't be left to Hillary Clinton to be the only person articulating that message.”
