A Southern California city councilman has been arrested and faces a dozen felony charges, including false imprisonment and sexual battery.
MyFoxLA reports Carlos Bustamante, a councilman for the city of Santa Ana, was arrested on the way to Monday night's City Council meeting and is being held on a 100,000 bail.
The councilman faces six felony counts of false imprisonment, three felony counts of assault with intent to commit a sexual offense and single counts of stalking, attempted sexual battery by restraint and other charges including several misdemeanors and sentencing enhancements.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas says his office will detail Bustmante's alleged crimes at a Tuesday news conference.
Bustamante has been a councilman since 2004, MyFoxLA reports. He is married to a Santa Ana attorney and has three young children.
The other members of the City Council reportedly found out about Bustamante's arrest after the meeting had started.
