House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, on Wednesday applauded the White House's decision to send more troops to fight the Islamic State in Syria, but said he was frustrated that the move was preceded by months of inaction.

The committee is planning to hold a hearing on Middle East strategy in the coming weeks.
