Peyton Manning's freshman son gets rocked, but fans are more stunned at all the scholarship offers
Miami, Ohio State, Purdue and Missouri State have offered the 15-year-old QB despite barely playing a down this season
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}All aboard the Marshall Manning hype train! Sure, it won't arrive until 2030, but we're getting a head start just in case there's any traffic along the way.
While one Manning is about to leave college football for the NFL, the next in line is already waiting in the shadows.
Yep. You read that right.

I've written about Manning before this season, way back in Week 1 when he saw the field, briefly, in the season-opener. It's been pretty quiet on the Manning front since, but the freshman started bubbling back up last weekend ... for multiple different reasons.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}For starters, he did see some legit playing time in Baylor's blowout win over McCallie, playing all of the fourth quarter in mop-up duty. the freshman played well, completing a couple passes, leading a scoring drive, and getting his bell rung along the way.
This is how you step into a throw, folks:
That's not all Marshall Manning did last Friday
BOOM!
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Good hit, better throw. I can still remember Peyton Manning getting his doors blown off and still, somehow, dropping pass after pass right in the bucket. It was amazing.
Like father, like son!

{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Although, to be fair, Peyton would've spent 40 seconds audibling to the correct protection so he avoided that sort of hit. Marshall will learn. High school football play clocks are only so long.

All in all, it was a fine night for Manning. Baylor cruised to a win, he completed some passes along the way, and finally saw some real playing time behind Ole Miss commit, Keegan Croucher.
See? Nothing special, but still, some experience. That's all you want as a freshman, right? Well, that and a few scholarship offers would be nice ...
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Don't worry! Marshall has nothing to worry about on that front.
Believe it or not, the freshman QB already has four Division I offers despite barely playing a down this season. Four!
According to 247 Sports — which tracks these sort of things — Manning has already received offers from Miami, Ohio State, Purdue and Missouri State. Not bad for a 15-year-old.

What a time to be alive.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Look, obviously it has a little something to do with his last name. We saw that with Arch Manning's insane recruitment as well. If your last name is Manning, teams are probably gonna be more willing to take a chance on you. Rightfully so.

But we also live in a new age of college football. The NIL era. The transfer portal era. This ain't the world I grew up in. It's certainly not the world Peyton or Eli grew up in.
Teams like Miami and Ohio State have all the money in the world to throw at these kids ... for now. We'll see how this new bill from congress shakes things up when it finally passes in 2040 (roughly).

Why not make him an offer during his freshman season just to get on the board? You know you'll have the money when the time actually comes to be serious about it, so what's the harm?
Not sure little 'ol Missouri State's gonna be able to compete with the boosters in Columbus, but I do appreciate the effort.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Regardless, none of this really matters until 2030. We've still got a lot of Marshall Manning recruiting in front of us, folks. A lot.
Frankly, we're just getting started.
