Vice President JD Vance’s comment about "childless cat ladies" became a talking point during President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. Taylor Swift even referenced it when she endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

Yet Beverly Vance, JD Vance's mother, had no idea Swift had taken a shot at her son over his "childless cat ladies" comment.

"I had no idea that's what she was even doing. Until you just said that, I didn't even put the two together," Vance said with a laugh during a recent appearance on OutKick’s "Tomi Lahren is Fearless."

JD Vance appeared on Fox News for an interview with Tucker Carlson in 2021, and the then-Senate candidate said that Democrats are "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

Beverly said her son meant it as a joke and cited his sense of humor.

"I just thought it was funny," Beverly said. "JD's just got a sense of humor and you know he was making a joke and obviously people didn't take it as a joke, but you know, I know JD and he just meant it as a joke."

The vice president admitted his comment was a mistake in his book. In Swift’s post endorsing Harris and Walz, she posed for a photo with a cat.

Tomi Lahren mentioned that Swift’s husband, Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce, grew up in Ohio, like the Vances. Beverly quickly pointed out that Kelce played college football at the University of Cincinnati.
