I am not a hopeless romantic. I am a hopeful one. I believe in America and the power of the human spirit and the power of right!

A lot of people did not think we would win the war for our independence, but we did.

A lot of people did not think we would survive the War of 1812, The Civil War, World War I, The Depression, The Dust Bowl, World War II, Korea, The Arms Race, Vietnam, Watergate, "The Gong Show!" or 9/11…but we did!

And we are going to survive this awful time of economic disaster, the oil slick in the Gulf, and the heavy-handed efforts by some in our government to make over our lives and relegate us to being, not self-sufficient, upstanding free men and women, but merely “Wards of the State.” Yes, we will survive this too!

How will we do it? Brother [Glenn] Beck says that the answer is to return to the bedrock principles that launched this great republic in the first place: faith, hope and charity. It may sound too simplistic, I believe it’s a good place to start.
