Many kids will graduate from college, high school .. or in my son's case 4th grade today. It's a time to celebrate and reflect and look forward to bigger and brighter things.

So today, a few words of my advice to grads: As I say in my upcoming book "Getting Real" always stand up for yourself and speak up for yourself. You are your own best advocate and no one will ever fight harder for you than you.

For my first paper in 10th grade English class, my teacher Jack Nabedrick didn't give me a grade. Instead, he wrote two words at the bottom of the page - "Carpe Diem". I didn't know what they meant then but I soon found out. Always "seize the day".

And finally, the Serenity Prayer which I find comes in handy almost every day.
"God grant you the serenity to accept the things you cannot change and the courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference."
