There's no doubt the transgender bathroom issue in both private and public schools will be center stage for this presidential election and beyond. Undoubtedly this will end up at the Supreme Court, and the issue will be whether the high court will add transgender individuals to a protected class status. So why now?
The immense publicity of Caitlyn Jenner, a world known Olympian man who decided to become a woman. Many would say Jenner helped others feeling the same way to come forward.
So why is the Obama administration pushing the issue now? Pure politics. They believe this won't look good for Republicans going into a big election in November.
So is it a massive executive branch over-reach, as the governor of North Carolina fired back with today?
Or is the right thing to do?
