Aaron Sorkin Should Seek Treatment for 'Palin Derangement Syndrome'

Aaron Sorkin needs a new script: the famous Hollywood screenwriter needs to quit the Palin bashing and save his dumb dramatics for the big screen

Hollywood screenwriter, former drug abuser and notorious liberal, Andrew Sorkin, is known for his words. By industry standards his prose has been award-winning (think "The West Wing" and "A Few Good Men").

But when it comes to commenting on life outside of Los Angeles, Sorkin’s words haven’t been so creative. In fact, they’re been downright vile. His target? Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, a favorite punching bag of so-called tolerant and “progressive” leftists.

It should be noted that in 2001 after Sorkin was arrested for hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana, and crack cocaine in his carry-on bag when a metal crack pipe set off the gate’s metal detector, he was ordered to a drug diversion program. That program likely ended years ago. Which begs the question: is Sarah Palin Sorkin’s new drug diversion?

One obscenity laden column he penned for the Huffington Post in December called her a “phony,” “Cruella” and a “witless bully.” He also dubbed anyone who follows her part of her “Army of Arrogant ***holes.” (Mind you in that same piece, Sorkin used the word “visceral” and snidely ordered that readers “look it up.”)

Sorkin has also lashed out at Palin over Twitter. A post on October 4 reads: “Sarah Palin’s an idiot. This is a remarkably, stunningly, jawdroppingly incompetent and mean woman.”

For a man who has been lauded for his “rapid fire” dialogue on paper, these words against Palin are not his best work.

Sorkin couldn’t even get through a recent interview about his latest film without taking a shot at her: He told CBS: “I think that we have big problems right now, and Sarah Palin? She needs a therapist, okay? We need the smartest guys, the best Ph.D.s around to be solving these problems. I don’t have any patience for the glamorization of dumbness.”

Talk about those who live in glass mansions. It's ironic that someone from Tinsletown, where asininity is king, would lecture us on the glamorization of dumbness. (Plus we tried Washington with a bunch of Ph.D.s. It was called the Carter years.)

So why does Sorkin feel superior? He and Palin both had successful TV shows and one of them was elected chief executive of a state. One knows how to run for office, balance budgets, and oversee a staff of almost 40,000 people...all in the real world of politics. The other only writes about those things, and spends the rest of his spare time cursing this same chief executive. (Now we know why he dated New York Times columnist and Palin provocateur, Maureen Dowd).

Whether Sorkin is a misogynist with an inexplicable Palin obsession or he’s just a man with too much time on his hands, he helps demonstrate why the former Alaska governor is so effective: she reveals the ugliest side of the far left. She exposes their misogyny and anger toward women, and the liberal media’s willingness to ride shotgun. She reveals their excessive snobbery and elitism, and their condescension toward anyone who espouses divergent political beliefs. She does this all by simply being herself: a real American woman. And the left hates real American women.

Sorkin once wrote: “Sarah Palin is deranged and The Learning Channel should be ashamed of itself.”

More like Sorkin's the one who needs to get help. He should seek treatment for his clear case of Palin Derangement Syndrome, and take the rest of his Republican-women-hating-Hollywood pals with him. It's okay to disagree with the right, but if they want to take a conservative woman to task, then do it on substance and save the dumb dramatics for the big screen. It's about time they found a new script.
