The W.A.T.C.H. organization – World Against Toys Causing Harm – has issued its annual list of “10 Worst Toys,” Boston.com reported.
Many of the toys on the list have small parts that could pose choking hazards to children.
Consumers need to be careful when purchasing toys online, according to the consumer advocacy, because online shoppers are not provided with the same safety information as store shoppers. W.A.T.C.H. said toys sold on the Internet have “warnings and age recommendations from retailers that are inconsistent with those supplied by toy manufacturers.”
Among the list of toys that consumers should avoid:
• The Magnetic Fishing Game, which is a possible choking hazard
• The Dart Zone Quick Fire 12 Dart Gun, which may cause injuries to the eye
• The Explore & Learn Helicopter, which has a 24-inch cord, may cause strangulation or “entanglement injuries”
