Breast cancer isn't the only thing you should be thinking about when it comes to your breasts. Through the years the size and shape of your breasts will change, so it's important to know what to expect. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to take you through the decades to ensure you have healthy breasts at any age.

20s

Self Breast Exams

This is the time you want to start doing your monthly self breast exams. The best time to do it is 3-5 days after your period. In your 20s, you want to get to know your breasts and all your lumps and bumps. You should also go to your gynecologist once a year and she/he will do a breast exam as well.

If you feel lumps, don't be afraid. It's typical for women in this age group to have a fibroadenoma - which is a benign, fibrous lump. Most of the time it doesn't need to be removed, but we like to watch them to make sure they don't grow.
