Remember the “Success Kid” meme? The photo of the little boy making a grumpy face and holding up a fist went viral and now its star is using his success for good— to help his father get a kidney transplant, Fox 30 reported.

Sam Griner, 8, was 11 months old when his picture spread over the Internet. Thanks to his popularity, the Jacksonville, Fla., family’s GoFundMe page has received an outpouring of support, surpassing their $75,000 goal.

"It’s so humbling and reassures our faith in humanity that people want to help people," Justin Griner, Sam’s dad, told Fox 30.

Justin, 39, was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2006 and kidney failure in 2009. He’s been on dialysis for 12 hours per weeks since then.

"We've had so many people comment this brought smiles to their faces and they donated because of that," Laney Griner, Sam’s mother and Justin’s wife, told Fox 30.

While some believe the “Success Kid” family doesn’t need the money, the Griner family said that’s far from true.

“Medicare pays for 80 percent, but 20 percent out of pocket,” Griner told the news station, adding that any little bit helps.
