A baby girl born Saturday, nearly an hour after a car crash that killed her mother, is in critical condition with little brain activity, mlive.com reported.

Miranda Evangelene Cole is currently at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., after being delivered at Allegiance Health. Her mother, Sara, 35, died at the hospital.

According to a blog written by Miranda’s father, Chad Cole, the baby was born without a heartbeat and was not breathing.

Doctors were able to re-start her heart and put her on a ventilator.

“Please pray for a miracle,” he wrote. “She’s a beautiful little girl, and she’s fighting.”

The Coles were struck by a semi-trailer Saturday afternoon. Chad Cole was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
