We know what you're thinking: "Why would I pay $20 for an egg sandwich when I can get two McMuffins for $3?"

But to that, we respond thusly: This is no ordinary egg sandwich.

For starters, the sandwich shown above was created by not one but two celebrated New York chefs: Wylie Dufresne, who helmed the iconic molecular gastronomy hot-spot wd~50 for 11 years; and Dominique Ansel, who gave the world the Cronut™, and the among other creative confections.

The ingredients are also a clear tip-off that this sandwich, known as the wd~Ansel Egg Melt, is like no other breakfast offering you've ever tasted. As per the description in Ansel's Instagram post, the wd~Ansel Egg Melt contains soft scrambled eggs, a confit egg yolk, Wylie's homemade cheese, black truffle, bacon and maple "flakes," all served on a smoked English muffin.

"We both did what we do best — Wylie made the eggs, I baked the smoked English muffins," explains Ansel.

Furthermore, Dufresne and Ansel are including a side of truffled hash browns with every purchase. (Just try getting that at McDonald's.)

Wylie and Dominique's wd~Ansel Egg Melt will be available this weekend (January 16th–18th) at the Dominique Ansel Kitchen in New York City's West Village.
