Red velvet gets a festive update with this colorfully decadent cake recipe.

Ingredients:

2 Eggs

1/2 cups Sugar

5 tbsp Vegetable Oil

1/3 cup Sour cream

1/3 cup Buttermilk

10 tbsp All-purpose flour

2 tsp Cocoa powder

1 tsp Baking Soda

2 tbsp Red food coloring (depending on brand)

? cup Butter

3 cups Sugar

2 cups Cream Cheese

? cup Shortening

1 ½ tbsp.Vanilla Extract

? tbsp. Salt

2 cups White Chocolate Chips (keep separate)

Preparation:

To prepare the cake, whip first eggs, vegetable oil and sugar together until fluffy

Add sour cream and buttermilk

Add dry ingredients

Add red food coloring and mix until combined

Pour into a half sheet tray lined with parchment paper and non stick spray and spread evenly

Bake until springs back to the touch, about 15-20 minutes

Cool in refrigerator

To make frosting, mix the butter and sugar together with the paddle attachment until smooth in a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Add everything else and mix until smooth, scraping sides of bowl every couple of minutes. Set aside for cake assembly.

Cut cake the long way into 3 equal pieces and spread ¼ of the frosting on top evenly. Sprinkle about ¼ cup white chocolate chips on top. Repeat with second layer then put a 3rd layer of cake on and spread remaining frosting evenly on top and on the sides. Sprinkle white chocolate chips on top, and stick them to the sides of the cake. Place cake in the freezer to harden

Using a knife, hot water, and a towel, cut into desired shapes and sizes
