Is it possible to turn plain banana slices into fudgy cookies? According to one chef, the answer is a mouthwatering yes.

Like most of us, blogger Joy Wilson of Joy the Baker sometimes finds herself in dire need of satisfying her sweet tooth. While Wilson was tempted to freeze Oreo cookies and smear them with peanut butter, she quickly came to her senses with something that tastes even better.

“We need more fruit," she thought. "Can we turn bananas into cookies?"

WIlson decided that yes, bananas in place of cookies was an ingenious idea, but she didn't stop there. “Let’s add peanut butter … and probably chocolate while we’re at it … and we’re going to need something crunchy: peanuts!”

The result? Super simple and scrumptious peanut butter banana bonbons. That kind of classic bite-sized treat can easily hit the spot on its own, but these ice-cold fruity bonbons deliver a delicious chill, along with thick rounds of ripe banana slices sandwiched with creamy peanut butter and then dipped in oozing chocolate chips.

Not enough for you? No problem — Wilson sprinkles her bonbons with chopped honey roasted peanuts. She also adds a Popsicle stick because wouldn’t you want to carry these around? (If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can use pretzel sticks instead.)

Any way you choose to enjoy them, you can’t lose at making (and devouring) this seasonal dessert.

“I hope you enjoy these frozen treats this summer,” adds Wilson. “I’m going to go rest my food brain now so I can dream up of something doughnut-y.”
