A hard working nonagenarian has just celebrated nearly a century working for McDonald’s.

Loraine Maurer, a 94-year-old cashier who has worked at several locations throughout Evansville, Ind., started working at the chain in 1973.

After 44 years, Maurer says she still enjoys what she does every day.

“If you don’t like your job, it’s a job, but I love it,” Maurer told People. “The people, the clientele, that’s why I stuck with it.”

MCDONALD'S ANNOUNCES BIG CHANGES FOR 2017

Maurer, who has four children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, says the relationships she's fostered with her customers and coworkers over the years have gotten her through some pretty rough times—including the death of her husband Kenneth in 1980.

“I know what goes on with them [her customers], I know some of their children. Some ask me to say a prayer and I do,” she says. “I know their lives.”

Maurer, who no longer drives, often gets a ride to and from her shifts from coworkers or regular customers.

On Thursday, Chip and Katie Kenworthy, the owners of the McDonald’s location where the 94-year-old currently works, threw a party in her honor.

“After all these years, she remains committed to serving her customers with one of the most delightful smiles around. Loraine has a loyal following of customers and they look forward to having her take their orders when visiting McDonald’s,” the couple said in a statement.

Dozens of customers also came out to celebrate Maurer and all enjoyed a specially made cake.

Many a nutriotionist has knocked McDonald’s for its food in the past but the dedicated employee says she actually eats it every day she’s on duty.

Her favorite item is the fish sandwich but now that she’s working the mornings “there isn’t anything I don’t like.”

To Maurer, her post at McDonald's has been much more than a job-- it's a reason to keep going every day.

“My customers make my life,” she says. “I have traveled with them, gone to ball games with them. They’re friends, not just customers.”
