Here's a tip: South Carolina waitress alleges couple admonished her for working outside the home

Reports of receipt rage, directed at both restaurant employees and customers, have continued to surface across the country—buoyed by a second life on social media.

But one waitress in Greenville, S.C. says she received a “tip” from a couple that initially complimented her service but ended up leaving her “heartbroken” and “mortified.”

According to Fox Carolina, the female server, who asked not to be identified, said she had just finished clearing the customers’ table on Oct. 13 when the duo walked back into the restaurant, left a quick note and then ran out the door.

“Thank you for your excellent service today – you’re a good waitress,” the note began.

But what followed, says the waitress, shocked her so much that she had to share it with others.

“Here’s your tip: The woman's place is in the home. Your place is in the home. It even says so in the Bible. You may think that you're contributing to your household by coming into work, but you're not. While you're in here 'working' this is the reason your husband must see another woman on his way home from a long day at his work.”

The note ended, “So instead of coming to your 'job' and looking for handouts to feed your family, how's about going home and cleaning your house and cooking a hot meal for your husband and children, the way your husband and God intended, and help make America great again. Praying for families and our nation.”

But this server says she has never been married nor does she have any kids.

“I felt mortified, embarrassed, humiliated even. I felt hurt, and a bit heartbroken,” the waitress told Fox Carolina. “It is a bit disheartening and discouraging that things like this happen at this day and age.”

She says the couple appeared to be in their mid-50s and appeared friendly and polite while she served them their food.

The server also told WYFF-TV that she does have a “very loving and supportive boyfriend” who is helping her while she continues to further her education.

The note has since received hundreds of shares on Facebook with many admonishing the couple for the demeaning tone of note.
