Then/Now: The Cast of 'Three Men and a Baby'

The biggest box office hit of 1987 was this adorable comedy about three carefree bachelors confronted with an infant left on their doorstep. Based on the 1985 French movie “Trois Hommes et un Couffin” (Three Men and a Cradle), the U.S. version is the highest-grossing remake of a French film in box office history. And did you know it was directed by Leonard Nimoy?! Successful sequel “Three Men and a Little Lady” came along in 1990, and Tom Selleck’s manager has confirmed that “Three Men and a Bride” is currently in the works. While we wait for the film update, let’s check in on the franchise’s stars. (Touchstone Pictures)

Danson played self-involved actor Jack Holden, the baby’s biological father.  The actor got his start on soap opera "Somerset." After small roles on series like "Laverne and Shirley" and "Family," the actor was cast on "Cheers" -- the show that shot him to fame.  (Touchstone Pictures)

Currently a regular in the series “Bored to Death” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (with wife Mary Steenburgen), Danson has maintained a successful career since the “Three Men” movies. Over the years, the actor has starred in “Gulliver’s Travels,” the series “Becker,” “Help Me Help You,” and “Damages.” His film credits include “Made in America” and “Getting Even with Dad.” Danson, now 62, has been married three times and has two children. The actor has won two Emmys, three Golden Globes, one American Comedy Award, and has a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.  (AP)

Selleck, then best-known for his starring role in “Magnum, P.I.,” was cast as architect Peter Mitchell. (Touchstone Pictures)

“Three Men and a Baby” really kicked Selleck’s movie career into high gear. Subsequent films include “Quigley Down Under,” “Three Men and a Little Lady,” and “Mr. Baseball.”  TV work includes “Friends,” the “Jesse Stone” series, “Boston Legal,” and “Las Vegas,” among other shows. On his second wife, Selleck has two children. The actor, now 65, can be seen in this year’s movie “Killers.”  (AP)

Movies like “Police Academy” and “Cocoon” made Guttenberg an 80s star, and led to his role as bachelor Michael Kellam in “Three Men and a Baby.”  (Touchstone Pictures)

Now 51, Guttenberg has appeared widely in film, TV, and theater. Although his heyday was the 80s, the actor worked through the 90s, appearing in movies like “It Takes Two” and “Tower of Terror.” He had a recurring role on series “Veronica Mars,” and starred in the 2005 TV remake of “The Poseidon Adventure.”  In recent years, Guttenberg’s been involved in various film projects, including the Jessica Simpson flop, “Major Movie Star.” In 2008, the actor appeared on “Dancing with the Stars” (at left). After "Three Men and a Baby," Travis went on to star in such box office successes as "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," "Internal Affairs," "Air America," "Three Men and a Little Lady," and "So I Married an Axe Murderer."<br><br> Now 48, Travis appeared with her old co-star Ted Danson in his show "Becker" from 2002 to 2004, and starred in the series “The Bill Engvall Show” from 2007 to 2009. Known for playing Spock in the original "Star Trek" series, Nimoy moved beyond the Trek universe by directing "Three Men and a Baby." (AP)

In last year's "Star Trek," Nimoy made his final appearance as Spock. The actor, now 79, recently announced that he will retire from acting after his final appearance, an upcoming episode of "Fringe."  Since the 80s, Nimoy has had a rich career, publishing poetry and autobiographies, releasing albums, voicing characters in animated projects, directing, producing, and of course, acting. Movie credits include "Star Trek" movies (obviously), "The Pagemaster," and TV movie "Brave New World."  Nimoy is married to director Michael Bay's cousin, Susan Bay, and has two children with his first wife. The eponymous baby was played by twins Lisa and Michelle Blair, who reportedly beat out 200 sets of twin girls for the role.  (Touchstone Pictures)

"Three Men and a Baby" was the last time the Blair twins were seen onscreen. The girls apparently retired in babyhood to live normal lives. Child actress Robin Weisman took on the role of Mary for "Three Men and a Little Lady," and the character in "Three Men and a Bride" has yet to be cast.
