Sofia Vergara: Better as a Blonde?

Sofia Vergara is going back to her roots.

The 40-year-old “Modern Family” star may play a buxom brunette on TV, but the Colombian-born actress is a natural blonde. And just in time for the upcoming summer season, Vergara decided to go for a fresh makeover.

“Blonde ambitions!!” Vergara tweeted along with an Instagram photo of her lighter locks Tuesday. “Gracias to the amazing Kelly Klain Im ready for summer!”

In 2010, Vergara told Self Magazine that she faced obstacles forging her career as a blonde.

“When I started acting, I would go to auditions and they didn’t know where to put me because I was voluptuous and had the accent-but I had blonde hair,” said Vergara. “It was ignorance: They thought every Latin person looks like Salma Hayek. The moment I dyed my hair dark, it was, ‘Oh, she’s the hot Latin girl.’ I loved it.”
