Hot Enough for Ya?
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Howdy folks, welcome to another week of cable casting! I hope you had a great weekend — ours was great. You were curious weren't you?
I got into a bit of trouble earlier today when I was doing the weather for today and I said that the weather was, "Sunny with temperatures in the 80s and 90s... a terrific day ahead." Well, shortly after I said that, I got an indignant e-mail from a viewer in Florida who said that, "Anything above 80 is not terrific... it's terrible." He had apparently moved to Florida — from who knows where — and now hates it when it gets hot.
I e-mailed him back and told him that since I was from Kansas and that I LOVE HOT WEATHER. Which is true. Temperatures in the 80s-90s (even the low 100s) remind me of days of my youth, bailing hay out in the scorching sun while making two bucks an hour. Wait a minute, I was working during the summer SPF-9000 days and only making enough money to buy half of a Dairy Queen banana split each hour? What was I thinking? You know what, I hate hot weather too! We'll have to edit the show before it airs on the West Coast.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Less than 10 years ago the FOX News Channel premiered and now, less than a decade later, the man with the vision thing for a "fair and balanced" channel is being honored as the most powerful man in television news. , chairman of the FOX News Channel (one of his many high powered jobs), was just named as the No. 1 Most Powerful Person in Television Journalism. How sweet is that? He's ahead of the presidents of NBC and CBS. To be honest I feel kind of sorry for the president of ABC — he's on the list, but AFTER , the host of "The Daily Show." That's right, the president of ABC News is AFTER Stewart, who MAKES UP HIS NEWS!
Finally, I wanted to give a special shout out to our crack team of segment producers and writers who labor from late in the night, through the pre-dawn hours and into the day and then the night. Without them, E.D., Brian and I would have little to do — we'd just sit in our chairs and look cute. So, hats off to them. In particular Christine Thoma. Why should I mention her? Simple, she's sitting adjacent to me as I write this blog and she keeps blurting out, "Are you done yet? Are you done yet?" Earlier she said, "Give me a shout out" — so that's what I'm doing. I'm honoring her in this column, simply to get her off my back.
By the way Christine, I'm done now.
