Justin Bieber has had a tiring couple of weeks, especially after his DUI arrest last week, so it is no surprise that he grabbed a little downtime in Panama over the weekend. Or was it an intervention by friends and mentors to guide the teen star through this difficult time?

People reports that a source at the Nitro City hotel where the 19-year-old was staying claimed that Usher joined the singer and his entourage of friends – which included the self-proclaimed model, Chantel Jeffries, 21, who was with Bieber when his yellow Lamborghini was pulled over by police in Miami for drag-racing on Thursday morning.

According to TMZ, Usher, who discovered Bieber in 2008, flew down to the resort in Punta Chame, Panama, and was joined by Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, and childhood friend Ryan Butler.

A few photos of Usher and Braun, 32, posing with Panamanian fans surfaced on Instagram and Twitter over the weekend.

Whether Usher and Braun were attempting to counsel the pop singer through his recent troubles or simply joining him on a vacation is unknown. According to TMZ, they were planning a “sit down” with Bieber, especially in anticipation of his scheduled meeting in front of a judge on Monday in Miami.

"During his stay on the beaches of Chame, Bieber drank some beers, tanned for a while and took a ride on a jet ski," the local Telemetro network reported.

A hotel source told People that Bieber left the hotel late Sunday afternoon.

Bieber was arrested Thursday and charged with driving under the influence, driving without a valid driver’s license and resisting arrest. He admitted to police that he had taken prescription pills, smoked marijuana and consumed alcohol.

Bieber was released on $2,500 bail after appearing before a judge.

Before his arrest, rumors began to surface that the “Boyfriend” singer’s drinking and drug abuse had gotten out of control – especially after an egg-throwing incident with his neighbor that resulted in a police raid at Bieber’s California home.
