"American Idol" Losers That Won

Who will be the next famous "Idol" reject? "American Idol" kicks off tonight, and the first few weeks are always full of unique acts and viral sensations. Who could forget “Pants on the Ground” guy? Or William Hung? While we wait to see who will be this year’s Bikini Birl, let’s take a look back at some of the show's most intriguing, um... characters! (FOX)

Atlanta Auditions Larry Platt, AKA "General Larry" is the "American Idol" contestant whose original song "Pants on the Ground" caught fire after his Atlanta audition was aired on Jan. 13, 2010. After seeing General Larry's performance, former judge Simon Cowell predicted a hit. We miss Simon already. Watch the original 'Pants on the Ground' here. (FOX)

Jimmy Fallon The song got so big, Jimmy Fallon performed "Pants on the Ground" during his show, as Neil Young. One of the more creative covers. Ever. (NBC)

Brett Favre After beating the Dallas Cowboys 34-3, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Favre did a locker room rendition of the Internet song, which itself became an Internet hit. Favre should have stopped while he was ahead. See Favre's cover here. (REUTERS)

William Hung Larry Platt was dubbed "the new William Hung" after his song hit. "AI" fans will remember Hung as the season three so-bad-he's-good contestant who belted Ricky Martin's "She Bangs." He parlayed his 15 minutes into a real-life record album and countless paid personal appearances. Not bad. Watch William's original audition here. (AP)

Scooter Girl "Scooter Girl" Nicole Tieri was an "American Idol" wannabe who brought her scooter to the audition, creating a sensation. In 2008 Nicole Tieri released the album, 'Tales From Magnolia Drive.' A street on which we assume she likes to ride her scooter.

Bikini Girl And of course, there's Bikini Girl, AKA Katrina Darrell, who became a psuedo-celeb after showing up to her Season 8 audition in a skimpy swimsuit. Bikini Girl became so synonymous with Season 8, she sang on the show's finale with judge Kara DioGuardi, and was actually not that bad! (FOX)

The Panther In season 6 the judges got a dose of "The Panther" AKA Martik Manukian. The contestant clawed and purred his way through the audition and called himself a singer, song-writer, choreographer, actor, rapper and many other things that he's clearly not. He's especially not "the most exciting entertainer on planet earth" as he claimed. After his bizarre performance - if you can even call it that - Simon looked bewildered and asked, "What the hell was that?" Check out the act that stunned the judges. Ian Benardo In 2007, the self-proclaimed "superstar" was called "rubbish" but former judge Simon Cowell. The scrawny New Yorker was denied a ticket to Hollywood, but later said that he would buy his own first-class ticket. After all, "Hollywood is New Jersey with celebrities," said the wannabe who had previously also tried out for "So You Think You Can Dance." He went off on Simon and the judge was forced to asked security to escort the obnoxious contestant off the stage. But Ian got another chance to go off on the British judge who scorned him when he grabbed the mic during Dane Cook's performance of "Simon Said" on a farewell tribute to the controversial host. The producers were forced to cut to commercial. We're glad they did.
