Philippe Stark designs a car

World-renowned interior and industrial designer Philippe Stark has designed an electric car for Seychelles-based automaker Volteis called the V+byStark. It was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. (AP)

The battery-powered runabout is built from aluminum and stainless steel and has a top speed of 40 mph and a range of 37 miles per 6-hour charge. Volteis specializes in building low speed vehicles targeted at island resort communities. (AP)

The seats are constructed of a braided fabric, as is the luggage basket located in front of the steering wheel. (AP)

The simplicity of the V+ recalls the French La Quazar concept from 1967. Click here for more Eye-Popping Car Designs from LIFE Magazine (Keystone/Getty Images)
