Talk about a dog day afternoon.
An eagle-eyed contributor to Dutch exotic car-watching site Autogespot.com spotted a golden retriever sitting alone in a $1.5 million Bugatti Veyron parked on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, Calif., in late January.
The patient pooch waited in the black and blue car with the windows closed while his or her guardian shopped in nearby stores.

The French supercar has a top speed of 253 mph and is upholstered with leather from cows raised in high altitude pastures where their hides are less likely to be scarred by bug bites. Its driver apparently very trusting that the dog would do the same.

California law doesn’t specifically require the windows of a car to be open when an animal is alone inside, but does prohibit drivers from leaving their pet in “circumstances that could reasonably be expected to cause suffering, disability, or death to the animal.” Law enforcement and animal control officers are empowered to break into a vehicle to free an animal if the operator cannot be found in a reasonable amount of time. A particularly expensive prospect when the car in question is a Veyron.
In this case, the photographer waited around long enough to snap a few picks of the driver returning after a short while and driving off into the sunset with the well-behaved canine.
That’s two lucky dogs.
