The Mustang King Cobra is back, in DIY form.

Ford unveiled the modified Mustang GT at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association show in Las Vegas this week. The name was last used on a Mustang in 1978.

Acting as a showcase of parts from the Ford Racing catalog, it combines components from three kits to create the ultimate Mustang, at least for now.

GT owners can replicate it by ordering the Ford Racing Drag Pack, Handling Pack and Super Pack.

The Drag Pack adds heavy duty half shafts and a new rear subframe that help optimize the Mustang's new independent rear suspension for drag racing, while the Handling Pack lowers the car one inch and comes with special rear shocks and a new stabilizer bar.

But its bite comes from a 2.3-liter supercharger system developed with Roush Performance that comes with the Super Pack and increases power from 435 hp to over 600 hp. Recaro seats and five-spoke wheels round out the package, which Ford draped in a snakeskin wrap.

Ford says a car similarly outfitted can do a quarter mile in 10.97 on slicks.

There’s no word on pricing for the parts just yet, or if that funky wrap will be available, but if you have them installed by a Ford dealer they’ll be covered by various warranties.
